My friends and I have interesting and somewhat humorous conversations around the water cooler, and the same subject comes up on an annual basis.... Valentine's Day, or as many of my acquaintances and I have known it as: Single's Awareness Day. We'll talk about how obnoxious it is to walk the halls of the high school (or at least attempt to) in the masses of PDA and oversized stuffed animals. We also have a wide array of personalities in our group... some choose to dress up in an assortment of hearts, while others celebrate the day wearing black. (:You know who you are:) Upon the preparation for this great holiday, my mom gave me a book, because sadly, it reminded her of a few of my friends and I. It is entitled, "The UnValentine" by Sam Beeson. This is a poem combined with hilarious illustrations that tell the story of Lily. Lily does not believe in love, and is quite disgusted by the "holiday half-way through the frigid month of February." Upon reading this, I must admit that humor met reality. I thought back to a tradition in the YW of our ward. For the last few years, the leaders have made it a point to have a flower or small stuffed animal in the front office of the schools for all of the YW in our ward. The even sweeter thing about this is what is attatched to it: a quote, usually from the Prophet, reminding us of the Savior's love for us. As I thought back to this the other night, a light bulb struck me in the head. Who ever said that Valentine's Day is a day to solely celebrate the love between couples? How shallow would that be? The only difference is that this is the focus the world puts on the holiday, and in turn we faithfully follow the concrete word of what our televisions teach us. To me, Valentine's has become more than "Single's Awareness Day." It's a day to be grateful for the loving relationships we have with parents, siblings, dear friends, and most certainly the love that we share with our Savior and Heavenly Father. I can tell you that this change in perspective has made all the difference today. I don't have to be a mopey statistic who buys herself flowers and chocolate, because I have so much more at home and at school than that, and for that I am grateful.
Happy Valentine's Day! I love all of you!

Glenn Beck talks about President Hinckley
Hey guys.
It's clear that their has been a huge wave of love outpouring in the community for President Hinckley. While browsing around, I have found a number of touching tributes to him and thought I would share.
FM 100 put together a wonderful musical tribute that I can't upload yet, so I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you check it out on their website (FM100.com)
There is also a link to "The Cane Wave Tribute Blog" on my Friends and Family List.
Finally, Glenn Beck did this awesome piece on President Hinckley recently and I really wanted to share it with you. It's very emotional I must warn you, and it just goes to show how many people the Prophet touched in his lifetime. I am so excited for the new Presidency. Remember to keep them in your prayers!
XOXO: meg:)
p.s. Sorry about the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Remember to scroll down and and pause it on the ipod.

President Hinckley:)
I have some great pictures of Aubrey, Nate, and Ryan sledding and at Nate's Star Wars Party, but since I can't get those up right now, I just wanted to post about President Hinckley for a minute. We were so sad to see him go, but are so happy that he is finally with his wife again. When we found out on Sunday night, it was only a few minutes until the whole world seemed to know. I turned on my cell phone and had already missed 9 texts from people. The texts were a bunch of forwards saying thank you to him for his great life and also asking that everybody wear church clothes to school to honor him. It was overwhelming at school the next day to see half of the studentbody dressed up. It's no question that he was loved. We will miss him, and will never forget his great sense of humor and love for the people of the church.

Plies, Placing, and Puking...Oh My!
It's been a wild week. Okay, you're right... it's actually been insane. Region Drill was last night, and let's just say everything leading up to it included no sleep, and lots and lots of work! The whole team's been feeling sick, but after dinner at competition last night dancing happened to be the straw that broke the camel's back. I threw up about 3 and a half minutes after we finished our slot in the Military category. (Perfect timing- I know.) Luckily, I wasn't dancing in the next category, so I got a few minutes to sit out and calm down. We then moved on to Novelty, Drill Down and Awards. Springville took 3rd in Region and landed a spot in State Competition. I got home, and crashed. I woke up this morning wondering the last time I felt this sick. Luckily, we didn't have early morning Drill (that actually would have been humanly impossible.) We had a short practice, which actually involved more half-conciousness than practicing anything. Upon finishing that, I came home, and have tried to sleep, but have managed to find myself immersed in the sick trap of lame daytime television. (Re-runs from the 90's or Spongebob Squarepants...you take your pick.) Anyways, I didn't get on my blog to whine about my life, but really to say thanks to my parents who really have supported me. My mom honestly is a superhero. My dad suprised me and made it to the competition (he ditched a meeting for me:) Grandma was awesome and made it out too. Another shout out to Mrs. A, Cass, and the administration- "You guys are awesome!"

Too cool of a post to have a name!
Vibe's Sweet Logo
Some Snapshots from "Evolutions"
Rick Robinson!
Another one of our choreographers, Kellie Messerly, she's the most incredible dancer I've ever met!
Alan Salazar...the king of hip hop!I have to tell you about the most amazing experience I had this weekend! Bear with me, because for those of you who aren't dance fanatics may not appreciate this as much. As I told you last time, the D'Velles were invited to perform with Vibe in two of their shows. (The first being at their studio's theater, and the next at the new Covey Center for the Arts.) We performed in Lindon this weekend at Vibe's studio. I had no idea that this incredible studio existed. We walked in and were greeted by their fabulous secretary (I cannot say enough good about all the people at Vibe) and were escorted to our dressing room (one of their EXTRA studios!) All of the walls are vinyl quotes about dance, and for those of you who know me well will already know that I was in hog heaven! Rick (the director) then took us on a tour around the building. The theater, which was unreal, consisted of a beautifully lit stage and only a couple rows of bleachers and chairs in order to make the setting intimate. The rest of the audience sat on the ground or in a bean bag chair in order to keep it very personal. Sound systems and mixers were on a floor above overlooking the stage in order to make it as professional as possible. The studio's were not only lit with flourescent lights, but also with dimmed lights on the sides of the walls to use if the feel of a lyrical, or any other dance called for it. I could not even believe all of the detail that Rick Robinson and the other directors put into the place! And did I mention the cafe? The cafe was stocked with all sorts of things for the dancers to eat! They truly thought of everything. For Evolutions, they bring in guest artists and performers. Friday's guest was an artist (who's name escapes me) was a very talented man with experience with today's hottest names (Fergie, John Mayer, Clay Aiken, and Kelly Clarkson... to name a few!) He wrote an original song for the show, and impersonates many icons of the different decades portrayed in the show. Drill performs again a week from tomorrow, and I wish I would have known and told you all to come to the last performance, but the next show will be just as great, if not BETTER! And for all of you SYTYCD fans, Benji Schwimmer will be the guest performer the night we perform. (:WE MEET AGAIN!:) Tickets are about $14, so you probably either really need to love Benji or dance in general to pay that much, but for anybody interested, it is more than worth it, and talk to me for friends and family discounts. To check out all the stuff that I so inadequately described check out www.utahvibe.com
xoxo-meg:)
