President Hinckley:)

I have some great pictures of Aubrey, Nate, and Ryan sledding and at Nate's Star Wars Party, but since I can't get those up right now, I just wanted to post about President Hinckley for a minute.  We were so sad to see him go, but are so happy that he is finally with his wife again.  When we found out on Sunday night, it was only a few minutes until the whole world seemed to know.  I turned on my cell phone and had already missed 9 texts from people.  The texts were a bunch of forwards saying thank you to him for his great life and also asking that everybody wear church clothes to school to honor him.  It was overwhelming at school the next day to see half of the studentbody dressed up.  It's no question that he was loved.  We will miss him, and will never forget his great sense of humor and love for the people of the church.

Plies, Placing, and Puking...Oh My!

It's been a wild week.  Okay, you're right... it's actually been insane.  Region Drill was last night, and let's just say everything leading up to it included no sleep, and lots and lots of work!  The whole team's been feeling sick, but after dinner at competition last night dancing happened to be the straw that broke the camel's back.  I threw up about 3 and a half minutes after we finished our slot in the Military category.  (Perfect timing- I know.)  Luckily, I wasn't dancing in the next category, so I got a few minutes to sit out and calm down.  We then moved on to Novelty, Drill Down and Awards.  Springville took 3rd in Region and landed a spot in State Competition.  I got home, and crashed.  I woke up this morning wondering the last time I felt this sick.  Luckily, we didn't have early morning Drill (that actually would have been humanly impossible.)  We had a short practice, which actually involved more half-conciousness than practicing anything.  Upon finishing that, I came home, and have tried to sleep, but have managed to find myself immersed in the sick trap of lame daytime television.  (Re-runs from the 90's or Spongebob Squarepants...you take your pick.)  Anyways, I didn't get on my blog to whine about my life, but really to say thanks to my parents who really have supported me.  My mom honestly is a superhero.  My dad suprised me and made it to the competition (he ditched a meeting for me:)  Grandma was awesome and made it out too.  Another shout out to Mrs. A, Cass, and the administration- "You guys are awesome!"

Too cool of a post to have a name!

Vibe's Sweet Logo
Some Snapshots from "Evolutions"
Rick Robinson!
Another one of our choreographers, Kellie Messerly,
she's the most incredible dancer I've ever met!
Alan Salazar...the king of hip hop!

I have to tell you about the most amazing experience I had this weekend! Bear with me, because for those of you who aren't dance fanatics may not appreciate this as much. As I told you last time, the D'Velles were invited to perform with Vibe in two of their shows. (The first being at their studio's theater, and the next at the new Covey Center for the Arts.) We performed in Lindon this weekend at Vibe's studio. I had no idea that this incredible studio existed. We walked in and were greeted by their fabulous secretary (I cannot say enough good about all the people at Vibe) and were escorted to our dressing room (one of their EXTRA studios!) All of the walls are vinyl quotes about dance, and for those of you who know me well will already know that I was in hog heaven! Rick (the director) then took us on a tour around the building. The theater, which was unreal, consisted of a beautifully lit stage and only a couple rows of bleachers and chairs in order to make the setting intimate. The rest of the audience sat on the ground or in a bean bag chair in order to keep it very personal. Sound systems and mixers were on a floor above overlooking the stage in order to make it as professional as possible. The studio's were not only lit with flourescent lights, but also with dimmed lights on the sides of the walls to use if the feel of a lyrical, or any other dance called for it. I could not even believe all of the detail that Rick Robinson and the other directors put into the place! And did I mention the cafe? The cafe was stocked with all sorts of things for the dancers to eat! They truly thought of everything. For Evolutions, they bring in guest artists and performers. Friday's guest was an artist (who's name escapes me) was a very talented man with experience with today's hottest names (Fergie, John Mayer, Clay Aiken, and Kelly Clarkson... to name a few!) He wrote an original song for the show, and impersonates many icons of the different decades portrayed in the show. Drill performs again a week from tomorrow, and I wish I would have known and told you all to come to the last performance, but the next show will be just as great, if not BETTER! And for all of you SYTYCD fans, Benji Schwimmer will be the guest performer the night we perform. (:WE MEET AGAIN!:) Tickets are about $14, so you probably either really need to love Benji or dance in general to pay that much, but for anybody interested, it is more than worth it, and talk to me for friends and family discounts. D'Velles and Vibe!

Rick Robinson and his dance company Vibe have invited the D'Velles to perform at their annual show, "Evolutions of Dance." This show is incredible, and I can't wait for it! We perform in Lindon on Friday at Vibe's Studio Theater, and again (I think on the 28th) at the new Covey Center for the Performing Arts. It's shaping up to be an amazing show that combines Ballroom, Jazz, and Hip Hop. If any of you are dance fanatics like I am, and are interested in tickets, keep checking my blog. I'll post more info as it becomes available:)

Love Songs:)

I found this great website on a friend's blog. It's called myflashfetish.com. It's a site where you can get a pseudo ipod for your blog. I've put a few songs that I love. I probably should get some "love songs" on there since Valentine's is coming up. Right now, I'm sure at least half of them are break-up songs.:) Oh well! "I'm rubber, you're glue" is a song by Chelsea Williams. We saw her perform at Universal City Walk in California, so totally check out that song. I'm a little addicted to it. Don't freak out though, and click on the ipod a million times. It takes a second for the songs to load and then it plays. Enjoy!
p.s. I don't know if I passed finals, but I survived them. I got the state certification for my computer class by 1.4%! I'm pretty sure though that my lowest grade came out to be an A-. It's a miracle! Hope you guys are all doing so good.

What a Month!

Wow! It's sad to think that the only time I have to blog is right before end-of-term! Ha! You're right! I don't have time. What I should be doing is studying, but I've been marathon studying for like the last 36 hours, minus church. It's been a wild last month, and I wanted to update you guys. December has been filled with many things to be grateful for. This last month a new cousin was added to our family, Gavin Thomas Dixon. (Check out Shannon's blog to see the adorable pictures.) Christmas was so fun. It was two straight weeks of sleeping in, eating junk, and hanging out with friends and family. And then (duh-duh-duh!) reality hit and school started again. For the life of me, I can't figure out why we couldn't just finish up finals BEFORE we left for Christmas. I take 3 out of 5 of them tomorrow, and I'm only honestly ready for like 1 and a half of them. D'Velles are participating in an invitational this weekend, so it's "big time, crunch time" as Mrs. A would say. Life's unbearably busy, but there's so much to be grateful for. This picture is of Ryan after nursery today. He had a cute little hat that said, "I am a child of God." When I get more time, I'll fill you in about the rest of everything.:)~meg:)
