I have to tell you about the most amazing experience I had this weekend! Bear with me, because for those of you who aren't dance fanatics may not appreciate this as much. As I told you last time, the D'Velles were invited to perform with Vibe in two of their shows. (The first being at their studio's theater, and the next at the new Covey Center for the Arts.) We performed in Lindon this weekend at Vibe's studio. I had no idea that this incredible studio existed. We walked in and were greeted by their fabulous secretary (I cannot say enough good about all the people at Vibe) and were escorted to our dressing room (one of their EXTRA studios!) All of the walls are vinyl quotes about dance, and for those of you who know me well will already know that I was in hog heaven! Rick (the director) then took us on a tour around the building. The theater, which was unreal, consisted of a beautifully lit stage and only a couple rows of bleachers and chairs in order to make the setting intimate. The rest of the audience sat on the ground or in a bean bag chair in order to keep it very personal. Sound systems and mixers were on a floor above overlooking the stage in order to make it as professional as possible. The studio's were not only lit with flourescent lights, but also with dimmed lights on the sides of the walls to use if the feel of a lyrical, or any other dance called for it. I could not even believe all of the detail that Rick Robinson and the other directors put into the place! And did I mention the cafe? The cafe was stocked with all sorts of things for the dancers to eat! They truly thought of everything. For Evolutions, they bring in guest artists and performers. Friday's guest was an artist (who's name escapes me) was a very talented man with experience with today's hottest names (Fergie, John Mayer, Clay Aiken, and Kelly Clarkson... to name a few!) He wrote an original song for the show, and impersonates many icons of the different decades portrayed in the show. Drill performs again a week from tomorrow, and I wish I would have known and told you all to come to the last performance, but the next show will be just as great, if not BETTER! And for all of you SYTYCD fans, Benji Schwimmer will be the guest performer the night we perform. (:WE MEET AGAIN!:) Tickets are about $14, so you probably either really need to love Benji or dance in general to pay that much, but for anybody interested, it is more than worth it, and talk to me for friends and family discounts.
